ORDERING
How do I purchase cookies?
We work exclusively through a pre-order system. Every Monday we post our latest flavors here on our site. Orders are open until Thursday night and pick-up is Sunday morning typically between 11am and 12pm. Â You can browse the weekly treats and reserve your favorites by clicking the 'Order Now' button for our standard Sunday collection.
What do I do if I need to cancel my order?
Please contact me within 24 hours and I’ll be happy to cancel your order and refund your payment.  Cancellation requests after 24 hours cannot be guaranteed as ingredients are bought ahead of time for each individual order.
Can I place an order if  I live outside of Virginia?
Unfortunately, no. Â As a cottage bakery registered in Virginia, we are not allowed to sell across state lines so we are only allowed to sell to customers who reside in Virginia.
PICKUP
Can someone else pick up my order?
Yes! Just make sure they have your order number or a copy of the confirmation email when they arrive.
Where do I pick up my order?
Pickup is every Sunday in the Falls Church area. Detailed directions and the specific address are included in your confirmation email.
ALLERGIES
Are your cookies allergen free?
No, Lake House Cookies are not allergen free and should not be given to someone with food allergies. Due to the nature of the ingredients required for these gourmet recipes, the kitchen and all equipment at some point come into contact with nuts, gluten, dairy, and eggs during the baking process so cross-contamination with these ingredients cannot be avoided.
Is your facility inspected by the health department?
No, as inspections are not done for home-based cottage bakeries . We do, however, operate as a fully licensed home bakery in compliance with all cottage laws, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and care in our kitchen. We maintain a Home-Based Business Permit as well as a BPOL from  Fairfax County.Â
STORAGE & CUSTOM ORDERS
What is the best way to store the cookies?
For best freshness, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for 5-6 days. To enjoy later, freeze for up to three months and when ready to eat, pop them in the oven at 350°F for 4-5  minutes for that fresh-baked experience,.Â
Do you accept larger orders?
We do and have a lot of experience handling large custom orders! We provide cookies for every type of event you can imagine, from weddings, rehearsal dinners, and showers to birthday parties, gifting, holiday parties, and more! For event catering or orders over two dozen cookies, please reach out via our contact form at least two weeks in advance with the quantity, date of the event, location, preferred flavors, Â and packaging details.
